A good choice, Eric S. Raymond is co-founder of the Open Source Initiative (OSI) and father of the Open Source Movement, whose principles he summarizes in the aphorism "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow".
I personally support the Open Source principles as opposite to the Free Software movement. It cares about developing good software rather than other philosophical matters, which in my opinion miss the point when you want your movement to succeed.
"Linus' Law" was successful for it to make a good Kernel :D. The philosophical branch of bazaar fits to me: Lots of people participate, from anywhere, but tidy :D
